The course is a fantastic way for medical students to remind themselves of anatomy in the clinical years. The expert's teaching showed enthusiasm which made you want to learn and achieve. The conceptsdiscussed were clinically orientated but perhaps there could have been a more clinically focusedapproach such as discussing different types of fractures more. The course was very well run from start tofinish, with good use of coffee breaks to break up the teaching. We received some great career planningadvice around the MRCS exam. It may have been good to hear from the Prof about his career to give anidea about we could become clinical anatomists and achieve his level of knowledge one day.

JBO
Royal United Hospital, Bath
Honestly, I thought this course was beyond my (second year) level. Most of the stuff was something I'd come across, but I feel I don't know it as solidly as an F1 would. Might be worth in the future advertising only to doctors and students near the end of training.
CP
Cardiff University
It was great overall - no comments.
ABM
University of Warwick
Fantastic organisation, very well done and loved how interactive it was. Made the content so much easier to remember. Would recommend that fewer topics ar covered or that contents is spread over two day.Was very overwhelming and things were covered at too fast a speed for lower years.
IJJ
Cardiff University
This course was far better than I expected. There was a good balance between the teachers talking at us and interactivity/audience participation. The 30 slide mini test at the start was a good way to break us in, and it got our brains thinking anatomically again. However this test was a false representation of the real spotter test at the end which was very hard in comparison. Some of the questions had 4 parts to them, meaning that in 45 seconds per slide you only really get ~10 seconds per question. Having to write down 4 answers in 45 seconds meant I was really pushed for time in some questions. However I understand that it is meant to be hard to push us. It made my anatomy exams in 1st and 2nd years look incrediblysimple! The viva at the end was something I hadn't experienced before. It was very serious but I actually quite enjoyed it. If anything it was a great experience being put on the spot and made to talk about anatomy. I have relearnt a lot of anatomy from this course and so I would definitley recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their anatomy. Thanks.
SMV
Cardiff University
Surface anatomy is not something we get taught in detail during medical school. This session provided some great teaching and was a superb refresher to do just before starting my job.
YI
Cardiff University
Good course overall. Variable knowledge from tutors. Some sessions felt like quizzes where the tutor asked questions and the audience answered which did not provide solid knowledge.
AA
University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff

SCR
Cardiff University
Very good overall.
AB
Cardiff University
I really enjoyed it; it was pretty intense, but I definitely came away knowing more about anatomy. I realised that I forgotten such a large part of my anatomical knowledge. I will definitely attend a similar course in future.
RN
Cardiff University
Overall, the cuorse wass very good - however, the difficulty level of the tests and VIVAs at the end were quite high and not something I felt could be prepared for in one day. Would have been better to be warned about it in the email so we could prepare more thoroughly prior to the course. Also, I found the personteaching us abdomen and abdominal contents rushed through things assuming everyone had attended the surgically orientated anatomy the day before, which was not the case so this was a bit frustrating as I had to keep stopping and asking questions of areas they skimmed over.
NR
University of Manchester
It was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed the course. I do feel however that it was a bit advanced for year 2 level but it was enjoyable and educational nonetheless.

CC
Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Gloucester
The course was rather intense but there was an excellent standard of teaching. I would highly recommend.
JP
Universities of Bristol
Extremely useful course. Two things that could make it even better 1. Some topics could take up more time e.g., very clinical relevant topics - where to site chest drains, femoral stabs, central lines, pleural taps, ascitic drains etc, with other things missed out, e.g., too much detail into foot tendons. 2. Longer time for the viva! Very useful day. Thank you.

Knowledge of lecturer was outstanding. Reception and efforts of those organising was fantastic. Viva exams were excellent, examiners made the viva feel doable and everyone came out feeling it went better than expected. Content was relevant - but maybe highlight/more emphasis on areas particularly useful for common practice – e.g., a very quick way of checking neuro function in the upper limb.

SS
University of Sheffield
Very good course. Excellent value for money. Available print outs of ppt presentations or comprehensive handouts would have improved the day. As would a few prosecutions to complement the surface anatomy. Would recommend.

Excellent content and teaching quality. Highly useful. Difficult assessment!
DA
Barts and the London
Brilliant course overall - pitched at a good level + covered a good amount of information. I don't think this course however should be made available to medical students - I think having some clinical experience is fundamental to understanding the concepts and relevance of anatomy and being able to apply it clinically. But overall a really useful and interesting day. It has given me a great understanding which will help with MRCS revision, being able to teach others at a basic level and most definitely on the wards. Thank you so much!

The course was very clear and informative. I learnt a lot and would recommend to my friends.
TT
Barts and the London
Very well run course- very informative and relevant for clinical practice. However, it would have been better to have slightly more time to read and answer the questions in the assessment- maybe a pre-printed paper to allow people to work through the questions at their own pace within a given time frame?
CC

FN
University of Aberdeen
I was very impressed at the materials covered in the whole day. Teaching was quite informal and it made me feel comfortable to ask any questions I was uncertain of. Although it was encouraged for students who were interested in a career in surgery/emergency surgery/radiology I personally felt that it is actually suitable for most specialities as it covers the very most basic yet vital anatomy knowledge. An important aspect of the course is that the teaching was made very relevant to clinical side or medicine which seems not the case when most anatomist were teaching us Anatomy in medical school. I would be very delighted if you Doctors Academy can come back to our university to teach this course in the coming years.
PT

Great atmosphere, nice tutors. The course is definitely beneficial for consolidating previously learnt academia, however, I wouldn't recommend attending this course without some previous knowledge of the anatomy covered.

Excellent anatomy topics explained in a structured & easily understandable way. Providing mnemonics was brilliant in order to aid learning. Excellent tutor! I felt the level it was pitched at was good, challenging and detailed but still manageable.

I'm so pleased I attended this course. Mr. Enoch was great and very approachable! I think this course would benefit students in being spread out over two days so that it isn't rushed. I know this may be logistically difficult but it's just an idea.

Very good teacher, great knowledge. Would be better to spread the course over two days since it is very intensive.
NZD
University of Liverpool
The test at the beginning was a good idea and I like the way we had a viva and a written exam at the end as it helped me understand the areas I needed to cover. However I thought the course was quite intense and a lot to take in for one day and as a result I found myself not taking a lot in. I did think that the teaching was very good and helped me to reinforce some of my knowledge. The clinical tutor was very good. Thank you.
JM
University of Liverpool
I thought the day was excellent and very thorough. I think the only thing I would have liked would be some anatomy on the pelvic floor.

LMJ
Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Blackpool
Good course. Well run. It would be useful to tell candidates to revise thoroughly before attending as there is a lot of material to cover in a short space of time.
NC
Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Blackpool
Could really have done with more emphasis on the fact that the majority of work and learning for the exam was required prior to attending. Assumed it would all be taught to a passing 'level' on the day. Forgot about the online power points. Overall very good day. Viva exam was pleasant, made to feel comfortable which is important. Written exam was very very hard. Often just too many components to each question but no increase in time. Often lost marks due to lack of time and space for a 5 part to a single mark question. A bit too much and frustrating as didn't allow to demonstrate ability and knowledge well.
CS
University of Liverpool, Liverpool
Tutor was very knowledge and was comfortable answering any questions we had
ME
University of Liverpool, Liverpool
Would recommend doing the course over 2 days due to the vast amount of content to be covered.
MBM
Royal Blackburn Hospital, Blackburn
Very good, but a lot to get through in one day. As one of the more junior attendees I felt having the course over two days would have helped me get a lot more from it
TG
University of Liverpool, Liverpool
Even if I do not pass the examination, I feel that the course has been very valuable as my knowledge of anatomy has increased significantly. Mr Enoch was very friendly and an excellent teacher
SA
Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Huddersfield
More clinically pertinent sections Earlier warning that there is an asssessment
TG
Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Blackpool
A very good course, relevant and interesting, but very fast paced. It would be better if the course content was given earlier so it allowed more time to read through. More demonstrations on a volunteer would be more helpful. Perhaps the layout of the room could have been altered so people at the back could see better.
AB
University of Liverpool, Liverpool
Very good.
WPL
Whiston Hospital, Prescot
My only criticism of this course was that it was labelled as training the clinical anatomy trainer and I thought there would be some time dedicated to how to teach people different concepts rather than just ensuring we all had the required level of knowledge. I did enjoy the course and it was well taught.
SG
Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool
Very good course which has improved my anatomy knowledge greatly however parts of the course I felt were at times rushed particularly the lower limb!
CH
University of Liverpool, Liverpool
It was good, but I felt that the viva's could be biased as it isn't the same set of questions. And I know it's hard to ask but focussing straight for over half a day is tiring. Apart from that it was a all amazing!
MW
University of Liverpool, Liverpool
Very useful as it was a long time since I did anatomy. I do however feel that we needed longer to read the pre course materials. Also think that it was a very large amount of information to cover in just a day, would be more appropriate split over two days into limbs/neck and then torso. I did find that because we went through stuff very quickly I had forgotten things from the morning by the afternoon time. If it was stretched out across two days it might help people retain the information better long term.
KH
Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan
The pre-course presentations were excellent and the handbook was very good. The day was very long and intense but there was no way to avoid this really. I found the work I did leading up to the day helped me a lot in my studies and I learnt on the day too, things relevant to my clinical practice. I have recommended this course to my colleagues.
HM
University of Liverpool, Liverpool
Useful course. Cheap. Would have liked more on nerve blocks and anaesthesia.
NR
Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds
Good. Only problem was that I did not received code before course to access teaching manual
GA
Royal Oldham Hospital, Oldham
Very relevant, concise, and beneficial for me.
DV
University of East Anglia, United Kingdom
I really liked this course even though it was an intense day of anatomy. However, on doing the viva, I felt the questions asked were a little unfair and didn't cover the spread of topics that the presentations did. I got asked quite a few lower limb and head and neck questions. I even got asked the pathway of the spinal accessory nerve which was not in the booklet at all! There were no abdominal questions in my viva. On consultation with other students at the course i was told that they got much simpler questions than i did (abdo/thorax/basic lower limb). I feel there is need for more regulation on the questions asked as it felt like my examiners were coming up with the questions as we went along. Overall, i did really enjoy the course and the tutor was excellent and kept everyone alert.
